This week’s message comes from Matthew 11:2–11, where John the Baptist—once bold in proclaiming Jesus—now sits in prison, discouraged and uncertain. He asks, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” Even the greatest prophet wrestled with doubt.
Jesus responds not with theory but with evidence: “The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.” Joy is found in the works of Christ, in the breaking-in of God’s kingdom.
Advent joy is not shallow optimism or the absence of hardship. It is the deep assurance that Christ is present, healing, restoring, and lifting up the least in the kingdom.
For the discouraged: Joy reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
For the weary: Joy invites us to rest in Christ, who says, “Come to me, all you who are weary” (Matthew 11:28).
For the church: Joy is our communal witness, rejoicing always (Philippians 4:4) and proclaiming good news that brings hope to all people.
As we light the candle of joy this Advent, we remember joy is Christ healing the broken, proclaiming good news to the poor, and lifting up the least. Joy is not fragile—it is resilient, rooted in the promise that Christ has come and will come again.

The ministry of John the Baptist and what it means to meet God in the desert. John’s message was clear and uncompromising: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” 
 
Unlike the religious leaders who emphasized ritual, tradition, and outward appearances, John called for authentic transformation of the heart.
 
His clothing—camel’s hair and a leather belt—symbolized humility and simplicity, while the religious leaders’ fine robes represented prestige and status. His place of ministry—the wilderness—stood in stark contrast to the temple courts. The desert was a place of dependence, stripping away distractions and illusions of self-sufficiency.
 
Throughout Scripture, the desert is where God meets His people: Israel in the wilderness, Jesus before His ministry, and now through John’s call to repentance. The desert is not a place of despair but of encounter, preparation, and renewal.
 
John warns us that heritage or tradition cannot save—only genuine repentance. Yet he also points to hope: the coming Messiah, who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire, bringing transformation and purification.
Takeaway: The desert seasons of life may feel barren, but they are often the very places where God shapes us, strips away distractions, and prepares us for fruitfulness.

As the Christian calendar closes with Reign of Christ Sunday, we celebrate the crowning truth of our faith: Jesus is King of all.
Paul’s prayer in Colossians reminds us that God strengthens us with all power for joyful endurance, delivering us from darkness into the kingdom of his beloved Son. Then, the ancient hymn lifts our eyes to Christ’s supremacy:
He is the image of the invisible God
The firstborn of all creation
The one through whom all things were created
The eternal one, before all things
The sustainer, in whom all things hold together
The head of the Church and firstborn from the dead
The fullness of God dwelling in him
The reconciler of all things through the cross
This passage obliterates any limits we might place on Christ. His reign stretches from creation to new creation, from the microscopic to the cosmic, from before time to beyond time.
As we conclude the liturgical year, we proclaim with joy: Jesus is King of all.

In this episode, In the sermon, we explore the powerful encounter between Jesus and Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1–10. Zacchaeus was a wealthy tax collector, socially rejected and spiritually hungry. Despite the crowd and his own limitations, he climbed a tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus. What happened next changed everything.
 
Jesus saw him, called him by name, and invited Himself into Zacchaeus’ home—before any repentance or restitution. That’s grace. Zacchaeus responded with joy, repentance, and radical generosity, offering half his wealth to the poor and fourfold restitution to those he had wronged.
 
Zacchaeus story reminds us that:
•     Jesus sees us, even when we feel small or ashamed.
•     He calls us personally and desires relationship.
•     He meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be.
•     True repentance bears fruit—justice, mercy, and generosity.
•     Salvation isn’t just personal—it transforms our homes and communities.
 
Whether you’re feeling distant, distracted, or disqualified, Jesus is still saying, “Come down—I must stay with you today.” Let’s respond with open hearts and generous lives.

Scripture: Luke 18:9–14
In our passage, we explore one of Jesus’ most piercing parables—a story of two men who went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, the other a tax collector. Both came to worship, but only one left justified.
We unpack:
The contrast between religious performance and heartfelt humility
How prayer can become ritualistic, self-serving, or Spirit-led
What it means to truly prepare our hearts for worship
Why God honors brokenness over bravado (pride over humility) 
As Christians, we need to challenge ourselves to approach God with reverence and pray with sincerity. If we are reverence and pray sincerely, we will leave justify, renewed.

In Luke 18: 1- 8, we explore Jesus’ parable of the persistent widow and the unjust judge—a story that challenges us to pray with perseverance and trust. What does it mean to “always pray and not give up”? How do we hold onto faith when answers seem delayed?
 
The parable teaches us that: 
• Prayer is an act of faith—not a way to twist God’s arm, but to deepen our trust.
• God is not indifferent—He hears, He cares, and He responds with justice.
• Persistence shapes us—forming courage, character, and a heart aligned with God’s purposes.
Jesus ends with a powerful question: “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” Let’s be a people who keep praying, keep trusting, and never give up.
