Christ, King of All
As the Christian calendar closes with Reign of Christ Sunday, we celebrate the crowning truth of our faith: Jesus is King of all.
Paul’s prayer in Colossians reminds us that God strengthens us with all power for joyful endurance, delivering us from darkness into the kingdom of his beloved Son. Then, the ancient hymn lifts our eyes to Christ’s supremacy:
- He is the image of the invisible God
- The firstborn of all creation
- The one through whom all things were created
- The eternal one, before all things
- The sustainer, in whom all things hold together
- The head of the Church and firstborn from the dead
- The fullness of God dwelling in him
- The reconciler of all things through the cross
This passage obliterates any limits we might place on Christ. His reign stretches from creation to new creation, from the microscopic to the cosmic, from before time to beyond time.
As we conclude the liturgical year, we proclaim with joy: Jesus is King of all.
This sermon was preached live at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in the Mimico Toronto area. We meet every Sunday morning at 10:30AM. If you are looking for a church you are welcomed here. Visit our website gccornerstone.org for more information. We pray you find this message inspiring.
